FerroAlloys
This plant in Pretoria is designed to produce 3,6ktpa of atomised ferrosilicon powder, but is currently producing 6,0ktpa. Ferrosilicon powder is made by atomising molten ferrosilicon with a high-pressure stream of inert nitrogen gas. The result is a high-grade powder with superior qualities, used in dense medium separation for mineral extraction processes.
Major clients include Kumba Iron Ore and companies in the domestic chrome industry. Ferrosilicon prices are linked to the international ferrosilicon market and benchmarked against competitors in the domestic market.
