Exxaro Sands asset structure

Overview
Exxaro’s mineral sands operations include KZN Sands in South Africa, and Australia Sands whose principal
asset is a 50% share in the Tiwest joint venture with Tronox Inc. KZN Sands produced 176kt of slag while
Australia Sands produced 100kt of synthetic rutile and 54kt of pigment in 2007. Once the acquisition of the Namakwa Sands operation on the west coast of South Africa is finalised, Exxaro will be one of the world’s largest suppliers of titanium dioxide feedstock and zircon.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
- Maintain position as third-largest producer of high-grade titanium dioxide feedstock.
- Second-largest producer of zircon.
- Downstream value addition.
- Increase share in world chloride pigment production.
