Mafube Life Extension

Project Overview

The Project’s scope includes the construction of crushing and screening operation and a 7km overland conveyor to link the Nooitgedacht operations to the current facilities situated at Springboklaagte and beyond. Other typical opencast infrastructure forming part of the scope includes haul roads, access roads, dams, and offices. The scope further includes the relocation of the current tip, primary crusher and Springboklaagte heavy mining vehicle (HMV) workshop to Nooitgedacht.

Upon completion of the project, the plant will produce primarily A-grade, export-quality product at a rate of approximately 3.8m tonnes per annum.

With the investment decision for implementation approved in 2016, construction on the site is already in progress, with a full handover of production expected to be completed by Q2 2018.
