PURPOSE:  • To optimize maintenance resources, to ensure equipment availability to meet production targets. • To ensure conformance to applicable standards and procedures, while ensuring support to operations with software and field instrumentation. • Provide assistance and guidance with the creation and implementation of new instrumentation techniques.

  MAJOR CHALLENGES: • Equipment and skills availability aligned with maintenance targets • Quality assured, maintenance philosophies and procedures aligned with best practise specifications • To ensure a competent complement of Human resource capital • To resolve unique technical constraints and incidents • Variety and technology of resources to maintain in area of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  •  B Eng (Relevant) ( Essential/Minimum )    
  • B Tech (Relevant) ( Essential/Minimum or )   
  •   Certificate First Line Management ( Essential/Minimum )


EXPERIENCE:

5 Years Technical process / maintenance environment  ~ Essential/Minimum ~ Operational

POSITION OUTPUTS:

 

The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:


BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND CI:

• Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities whilst keeping abreast of new developments and technology within specialist field • Conduct research work in order to initiate process changes. Act as Business Improvement process champion by liaising with other development sections • Conduct desktop and pre-feasibility studies toward improving process flow. • Ensure conformance to best instrumentation practices, through the implementation and adherence to good standards and procedures. • Utilise the latest technology in the control and implementation of instrumentation. • Provide a high level of support for software and field instrumentation in all environments. • Develop and test new technologies.

COMPLIANCE, GOVERNANCE AND ASSURANCE:

• Ensure all operations adhere and comply with corporate governance, statutory, legal and other requirements • Adhere to OHS Act, company-specific SHE policies, procedures and legislation • Manage risk by assessing liabilities, reporting and monitoring standards, as well as attending to rehabilitation / environmental p roblems in line with Exxaro standards • Accept responsibility for SHERQ by creating awareness and addressing all unsafe practices in a timeous manner • Implement and maintain audit structure • Assume all duties regarding 16.2 SHE legal appointment. • generation, implementation, coordination, corrective actions and maintenance of all SHE activities namely HIRA's, Working procedure, Audits, safety training, inductions, investigations, etc.

CUSTOMER, STAKEHOLDER AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

• Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing corporate profile • Manage internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met • Provide relevant and specialised project support to applicable stakeholders

EFFECTIVE PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

• An optimised team is manned by staff which are motivated, empowered and led by sound performance management and transformational leadership practices • Promote teamwork, provide support and manage performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans for subordinates • Oversee recruitment and HR related activities of reporting staff • Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to job and working environment, at discretion of Manager (direct superior)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

• Manage projects with regard to processes, technology and equipment • Evaluate and complete projects with minimum risk, within allocated timeframes and according to specified budgetary requirements • Provide input and focus on projects and project teams • Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders

SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards • Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

STRATEGY:

• Develop plan implement and maintain a strategy to supply integrated support services to customers, which includes following: • Technical studies of new operations; Design and layouts; Mechanical/Electrical with regards to all new and existing plants as well as Research and development; Resource management; Technical support to Research and Development; Safety; General operational issues; Terrain and Infrastructures • Manage legal compliancy of Technical Support sub-group
