PURPOSE:
- To perform maintenance tasks on infrastructure and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer Literacy Applicable Software - (Essential/Minimum)
- Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical – (Essential/Minimum)
- N3 Relevant Trade Subjects - (Essential/Minimum)
- N4: Engineering Relevant - (Recommended/Desirable)
- Trade: Instrumentation Mechanician MQA/QCTO - (Essential/Minimum)
EXPERIENCE:
Applicable technical and maintenance experience within a heavy industry/production/mining environment. ~ 3-5 years ~ Essential/Minimum ~ Operational
REQUIREMENTS:
- Certificate of Fitness - (Essential/Minimum)
- Driver’s Licence - (Essential/Minimum)
- Computer Literacy: Basic MS Office Suite - (Essential/Minimum)
- Proof of Core training (off the job) and sign off on modules - (Essential/Minimum)
- Psychometric Assessment - (Essential/Minimum)
POSITION TASKS:
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management
- Ensure delivery of service in alignment with agreed Exxaro and external SLA standards
Equipment Operations and Control
- Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of structures, specialized infrastructure, machines, systems and specialized equipment and digital technology
- Assist with coordination of shutdowns, and ensure compliance with housekeeping standards
- Assist with maintenance cost management
- Ensure compliance to legislation
Maintenance, Process and Equipment Efficiency
- Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
- Use available resources optimally
- Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area
- Complex diagnosis/troubleshooting and/or repair on mechanical equipment where independent decision making will be critical
- High level maintenance, installation and testing of sophisticated equipment, machinery, etc
- Execute pro-active inspection and fault finding as part of preventative maintenance work
Routine Work Management
- Ensure the execution of maintenance plans
- Balance workload between routine and scheduled maintenance and breakdown recovery
- Assist with Project planning in area of responsibility & expertise
- Attend meetings and effectively communicate plant related issues

Technical Support
- Ensure specialized technical support in area of expertise i.e, latest technology and best practice; analysis, interpretation, instrument equipment calibration, problem solving which including interpretation of specialised prescriptive manuals and internet and other relevant material on task at hand
- Develop and implement preventative measures/maintenance to prolong life of equipment, structures, machines etc.
- Train and mentor Artisans
- Interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, wiring diagrams manuals and oral instructions. Manufacture parts of equipment as is, or from new design as required, interpreted from sketches plans or drawings. Programme digital equipment/Machines such as (CNC lathes, Industrial pattern cutting machines etc).
