Dorstfontein Complex

Dorstfontein Complex lies just north-east of the town of Kriel, in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The Complex comprises: DCMW, an underground colliery; DCME, an opencast operation; and Rietkuil (Vhakoni), a Prospecting Right.

 

DCMW produces 74Kt ROM per month on average, and DCME, 180Kt ROM per month. DCME washes coal to produce 4 800kcal/kg and 5 300kcal/kg export products. DCMW washes coal to produce a 5 800kcal/kg inland product, while raw is mixed with DCME product. Both operations have on-site washing plants and a strong resources base.
